Stencil Dining Table
So in our new place we have this nook area like a breakfast place which was perfect for this set of round table and chairs.
I really wanted a dining table set but didn't realize my wish would come true instantly when we found these guys the very next day we moved in.
The table and chair were free and in excellent condition.
The good thing about free stuff is that it makes you want to experiment, which you wouldn't normally do on something you paid for, ya know what I mean 😉
I mean I would have experimented on it either way but knowing if you did mess it up you could always throw this set away since there is nothing to loose basically.
Anyways moving on this round table set was completely black. The table top had this "fake dark wood" type plastic material on it and so did the chairs.
This is the "best" before shot I could snap that day. Ignore the mess around since we just moved in and things are all over the place and when I mean all over I mean ALL OVER !
Materials Needed for this Project
Cutting Edge Stencils Patchwork Tile Stencil
Annie Sloan Navy Blue Chalk Paint
DecoArt Paints
Metallic Gold Paint
Clear Gloss Spray
Stencil Brushes
From Cutting Edge Stencils I received this Patchwork Tile Stencil and the minute I saw it I was obsessed. The possibilities with this stencil were endless.
I painted the table top and the chair seats in this beautiful Napoleonic Blue color from Annie Sloan.
When that was dry I started stenciling the table top first with all these beautiful colors from DecoArt.
Incase you guys didn't realize from the last few posts its just been a color festival on every project that I've been doing recently from my bar stool makeover to Ikat nightstand.
Starting from the middle I stenciled my way out to the corners alternating between all the colors and making sure I don't use the same ones consecutively.
This is how a fun night for me is with my paints, some music and some stencils and I am All set.
So with an up and down motion I went around the whole table stencilling until I thought it was completely covered.
The sides of the table got a pop of Gold.
They just seemed to bare for my taste.
And of course DecoArt Gold metallic cream came to save the day.
When the stenciling on the table was done I proceeded to the chairs.
Which by the way was super quick since I used a bigger stencil almost 8 by 8. I just placed it on the middle of the chair and painted right over.
Just one pattern on both the chairs and that was all it needed.
Finally to seal everything, since its a dining table and it will be used quiet a lot my favorite spray to use is this Clear Gloss spray. It gives a sheen as well as a durable finish.
I gave the table and chairs two days to completely dry and I'm not really using it as much still since I want to give it like a week or so its like completely sealed even though it can be used right now.
But that was basically it. I did think of painting the legs of the table and chairs but then I thought it would be a bit "too much" but then again when has that ever stopped me from going wild with paint 😉
But this time I thought lets just keep the focus on the beautiful stencil and I think it turned out really good.
All Done!
And the table by itself in all its glory.
What do you guys think?
Now we have super fun breakfast nook.
